Avril Lavigne Biography: Music, Songs, Albums And Avril Lavines New CD

Though a wide range of artists have gained popularity in recent decades, people often assume pop stars come from a relatively wild background. This assumption probably comes largely from the uninhibited exploits of stars when they attain fame. Nevertheless, it comes as a surprise when Billboard toppers initially associated with a rebellious genre like punk, actually began their careers singing country.
For Avril Lavigne, though, country proved very much just the beginning.
Exploring Avril Lavigne's biography, there are a few things besides a background in country music. Even casual observers of the pop phenomenon that is Avril Lavigne note her Canadian birth, and her French name, support her heritage from Napanee, Ontario. Lavigne first caught the attention of a professional manager in a bookstore singing covers of country songs, besides winning a competition to perform onstage with Shania Twain. However, the release of Let Go brought Avril Lavigne's pop status - not with the honky tonk of a country song, but rather with her then-trademark punk look.
From Let Go, Lavigne's biography slows down quite a bit as her life rapidly filled with events. She released a couple of albums since her 2002 debut, Under My Skin in 2004 and her new CD, The Best Damn Thing. Tracks from Under My Skin made less of a dent on the US charts than some of her other offerings, but Avril Lavigne grew in popularity abroad despite whatever the US fans indicated. The new CD, thanks to incredibly catchy songs, such as the saccharine "Girlfriend," Lavigne launched to much higher success than in her second CD. Between the two albums, though, Avril Lavigne branched out beyond music, beginning her modeling and acting careers.
In addition, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley and Avril had a Catholic wedding in 2006. It came as little surprise, then, that Deryck appeared opposite his Mrs. Whibley on her latest CD, and may well have helped define the sound that launched the album to the top spot on the US charts. As reviewers have noted, Avril Lavigne makes no qualms about appealing for radio airtime with her latest album. Certainly, she accomplished as much. Yet, while Avril Lavigne's target audience seems to remain fairly young, her album does come with a parental advisory for language for the occasionally explicit term, as suggested by the album title. Avril Lavigne herself admits to growing up some since her debut, so it follows that she would throw in a few terms that would seem unexpected from the starlet.
Still a young 23 years old, the rapid rise of Avril Lavigne on the charts, as well as general demand, has shown how far a girl from a conservative Christian family can come. A media sensation for now, only time will tell the true legacy of Avril Lavigne. If time permits, perhaps her roots in country songs will arise again. Whatever new developments she decides for her career, the spotlight now shines on Avril Lavigne, and for better or worse, it will likely stay that way for years to come.
